He’s a hero.

The final walk dressed in blues shows the respect, honor and loyalty that Cena so deserves just as every soldier deserves for the many sacrifices they give to our great nation! 🇺🇸🎆
Dogs are the most loyal, selfless, friend and companion that every human deserves! They love unconditionally and are deserving to be in a safe home, loving and supportive environment! 🥰🐾🇺🇸❤️
The Black Labrador served as a bomb-detection dog with the United States Marine Corps from 2009 to 2014, completing three tours in Afghanistan alongside his handler, former Marine Cpl. Jeff DeYoung. Trained to detect hundreds of types of [ex.plos.ives], Cena helped protect troops and save lives in some of the world’s most [da.nge.rous] environments.
After a hip [in.ju.ry] ended his military career, Cena was reunited with DeYoung through American Humane and became his service dog. As DeYoung struggled with PTSD and the [lo.ss] of fellow Marines, Cena remained by his side, providing comfort, support, and companionship through some of life’s toughest battles.
Years later, when Cena was diagnosed with bone [ca.nc.er], DeYoung wanted to give his loyal partner the farewell he deserved.
In July 2017, hundreds of people gathered in Muskegon, Michigan, to honor Cena’s extraordinary life. Dressed in custom Marine dress blues, the retired military dog received full Marine honors as he took one final ride through the community. Veterans, first responders, and local residents lined up to pay their respects.
Cena later passed peacefully in the arms of the Marine who had trusted him in combat and loved him like family.
His story is a powerful reminder that some dogs do far more than offer companionship. They serve, protect, comfort, and leave a legacy that will never be forgotten. ❤️🐕
Cena served his country, stood by his Marine through war and hardship, and was honored like the hero he was. ❤️🐾
A marine is always a marine even if it has paws!
God speed precious!🙏🙏 Thank you for your service, Cena. Rest easy, good boy.❤️❤️❤️
