She was trying to give the baby freedom but the kid is too young to understand 🤔
A gorilla mom was caught on CCTV throwing her baby over a divider so she could have five minutes alone. The baby climbed right back. Her reaction was every parent on Earth.
Zoo staff had given the first-time mother a private holding area so she could rest with her one-year-old baby. A quiet space. Some peace. The kind of break every new parent desperately needs.
Mom had other plans for that break.
Security cameras caught her picking up the baby, placing it over a low metal divider, and walking away. Done. Shift over. Someone else’s turn.
Except nobody else was there.
Within seconds, the baby’s head popped back over the gate. Then its hands. Then it started climbing right back toward her with the determination of a toddler who has never once accepted the word no.
Mom’s reaction was instant. Both hands straight to her head. The universal gesture of a parent who just realized that five minutes alone isn’t happening today. Or tomorrow. Or possibly ever again.
Keepers stepped in with extra rest and some TLC for mom while the baby got new toys nearby to keep it entertained. Everyone was fine.
Nobody was hurt. The baby was never in danger.
One zookeeper summed it up perfectly. “I had a kid last year, so honestly, I don’t blame her.”
