Such good parents. My heart hurts for beautiful Jackie and her beloved Shadow.
We are crying for the loss of a majestic bird, the trials and tribulations of nature, and the prophesy of what can happen to our planet if we don’t take care of it!
At least, that’s what I’m feeling! 😥
Jackie, the beloved female from the Big Bear bald eagle nest, was [at.ta.cked] by two sub-adult bald eagles a few weeks ago. She was also found unable to fly. She was eventually taken to a wildlife rescue, where it was discovered that she was also quite [i.l.l]. They did everything they could to save her, but [sa.dly], Jackie didn’t make it.
Jackie and Shadow for several years, and like so many others.
Together, they gave millions of people a glimpse into the lives of these extraordinary birds…their incredible bond, their devotion as parents, and their fierceness when protecting their nest and young. Faithful partners. Devoted parents. Fierce protectors. Honestly, they could teach a lot of humans a thing or two.
There was a time when seeing a bald eagle was incredibly rare. Their populations had declined dramatically, but thanks to decades of conservation efforts, bald eagles made one of our country’s greatest wildlife comebacks.
Maybe that’s part of Jackie’s legacy, too. Birds like Jackie and Shadow helped people connect with bald eagles on a personal level. They weren’t just another species to protect… they had personalities, relationships, struggles, victories, and families that people around the world watched and cared about.
Fly high, Jackie. 🖤 Your legacy will live on through your offspring and through the millions of people who fell in love with bald eagles because of you. 🦅
Jackie will be so missed but I will also remember her passion for protecting her young. Even when Sandy fell out of the nest recently, Jackie showed up to stay with Sandy and provide food while she was probably [i.ll]. Jackie will always be here ❤️
Because of her and tens of thousands of followers worldwide, Big Bear eagle and wildlife habitat saved when $10M raised. Her legacy. 💓
