That’s really amazing how a tortoise has such a long lifespan! 🐢💙

If only he could talk what stories he would tell. Thats he’s secret…!🐢💙💚
Born around 1832, Jonathan was already alive before Queen Victoria ascended the throne, long before cars became a common sight on roads, and decades before humans achieved the first powered flight. While generations have come and gone, this extraordinary tortoise has continued his remarkably long journey through history.

Jonathan, a giant tortoise native to the Seychelles, has called the remote island of St. Helena home since 1882. He lives on the grounds of Plantation House, the official residence of the island’s governor. By the time he arrived, he was already fully grown, suggesting he was at least 50 years old—and possibly even older than scientists estimate.

Today, age has taken some of his senses. Cataracts have left him almost completely bl.ind, and he has lost his sense of smell. Yet Jonathan still has good hearing and a healthy appetite. With the devoted care of those who look after him, he continues to enjoy his daily meals and peaceful life on the island.
Absolutely awesome.😮💙

For nearly two centuries, Jonathan has witnessed a world transformed beyond recognition. Empires have risen and fallen, technology has advanced beyond imagination, and countless generations have lived their lives—all while he has quietly wandered the same grounds.

His story is a remarkable reminder that sometimes, the most extraordinary lives are not measured by how much the world changes, but by the simple, enduring miracle of being here to witness it. ❤️🐢
All it took was a little diet change, and now he’s back in great shape and still going strong.
Goes to show if you look after them right then who knows how much longer he can he live well done every one…!💙
Hard to believe that they live so long 😮 Wish he could tell us about history…😼🐢💙💚
God Bless him!❤️🙏🙏🙏
