The coolest deer I ever seen in action 💗🦌
It’s nice that some people can coexist with animals.
Hundreds of people had gathered for the race, and by the time the first wave of runners approached the finish line, crowds were already cheering from the sidelines.
But before anyone could focus on who was coming in first, they noticed something strange. A deer was running alongside them.
At first, everyone assumed it had just crossed onto the course and would disappear back into the woods. It didn’t. The deer stayed beside the runners all the way toward the finish line.
Some of them later said it had joined the race nearly three miles earlier and had been keeping pace with them ever since. When the deer finally crossed the finish line with the group, the crowd went crazy.
One staff member jokingly grabbed an extra medal and carefully placed it over the deer’s antlers. Apparently, the deer wasn’t finished celebrating.
After watching the runners head toward the refreshment area, it followed them. That’s when it discovered the water table.
The deer began helping itself to cups of water, knocking several over while volunteers stood nearby laughing.
Eventually, staff removed the medal, cleaned up the mess, and watched their unexpected participant wander away. The deer may not have registered for the marathon.
But several of the first runners to finish said the coolest part of the entire race wasn’t their time. It was getting to cross the finish line beside a deer.
A lonely bachelor deer just looking to make friends!
