He’s [lo.ck.ed] up in a zoo, yet rescues his keeper, who’s the kinder, gentler animal on this planet? Certainly not us
Just because they don’t communicate, doesn’t mean they’re dumber than humans!
A chimpanzee pulled a zookeeper away from a [faulty] electrical cabinet, then sat nearby until the rescue team arrived.
The keeper had entered a service area beside the chimpanzee habitat to inspect a control box that had stopped working.
Moments after he opened it, an electrical fault [knocked] him to the ground.
He was still conscious, but [ba.dly] disoriented and unable to move away from the cabinet.
A chimpanzee watching from the nearby access doorway immediately became agitated. Instead of retreating, it entered the service yard, grabbed the back of the keeper’s jacket and began pulling.
The chimpanzee dragged him several feet across the concrete until they were safely away from the [lo.ose cable]. Then it released his clothing and moved back toward the habitat entrance.
Other zoo workers noticed the emergency on a security monitor and called the rescue team. Less than a minute later, three responders came running through the service gate with medical equipment.
By then, the keeper had regained enough strength to sit upright. The chimpanzee remained beside the habitat doorway, quietly watching as help approached.
Staff later said the animal had never been trained to perform a rescue. It simply saw someone it knew lying in danger—and did the only thing it could think of.
The rescue team treated the keeper, but the chimpanzee was the one who first pulled him out of [ha.rm’s] way.
Animals have feelings and communicate them through actions. Some through sign language, some through buttons. It’s a gift for them and us.
All animals are so much more intelligent that we ever knew. 🌹💕🌈
