I’m not crying, you’re crying…

THIS is how you fix things. Observe, think, act when you encounter someone who might benefit from some help. In this case, two someones were helped.
This is what life is about. Helping people who have been told no and seeing the joy both the woman and the old Beagle experience. ❤️
At 81, Edna Kowalski lives alone in a Scranton, Pennsylvania, apartment building where pets aren’t allowed. Every Sunday after church for the past year, she took a cab to the county shelter and asked to sit with the same dog.
Chester was an old beagle mix with a gray face who’d been at the shelter for two years. Staff brought a folding chair into the kennel aisle for her, and she’d read the Sunday paper out loud to him for an hour while he leaned against her knee.
Within a month, the volunteers noticed he’d be waiting at the front of his kennel by 11 every Sunday, before her cab even pulled into the parking lot.
She never asked to adopt him. When a volunteer finally asked why, she explained that her lease didn’t allow it and she couldn’t afford to move on her pension.
On Sundays when the cab ran late, staff said he paced the front of the kennel until he heard her voice in the hallway.
The volunteer mentioned it to the shelter director, who called Edna’s building manager herself. After hearing about 52 Sundays in a row, the manager agreed to a written exception for one senior dog.
He moved into the apartment that same month. Sunday mornings she reads him the paper from her own armchair now.
Sometimes seniors become unable to walk their dogs, pick up after them, or afford vet care and food. It would be nice if we had volunteers to walk them and a non profit to help with the rest for homebound seniors.
Bravo to that shelter manager! If you want a pet, start the convo with your landlord. Most don’t know how harmful the rules are.
That’s so wonderful! Thank you to the apartment manager who made an exception!
So glad they helped her take the dog home. So happy for Edna and Chester!! 🥳
Wow, what a very touching, heartwarming story! ❤️🐾❤️
