People are searching for Sunshine, a mountain lion who dragged an old cat tree into the woods, but a week later, wildlife officials discovered why.
Sunshine first went viral after a street camera caught her walking backward, slowly dragging an old cat tree someone had left at the curb.
Another camera near the woods captured her still pulling it deeper between the trees, leaving people wondering where she could possibly be taking it.
Then, about a week later, wildlife officials located the cat tree. Two mountain lion cubs were climbing over it, scratching the posts and resting together on its platforms.
But Sunshine was nowhere around.
Officials believed the mother had likely stepped away to hunt, leaving the old cat tree behind to keep her cubs occupied while she was gone.
They kept their distance and continued monitoring the area before leaving, hoping Sunshine wouldn’t return just yet.
