Forty-five people were ar.re.sted, 16 dogs were se.ized, and more than $70,000 in cash was tak.en from the scene!

They deserved love, care, and protection, not vi.ole.nce.

The part that matters most is the 16 dogs who were pulled out of that situation. Every one of them deserved a life far away from that pit.

That is how large authorities say this dogfighting case in Newton County, Texas, had become.
According to Sheriff Colton Havard, deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office carried out a coordinated operation called “Operation Pit Bull” at a rural property off FM 1004 in the Call community. When officers arrived, they [re.port.edly] found two dogs actively [fi.ght.ing] inside a homemade pit while people began running into the woods to [es.cape].

Investigators also seized several [fi.rea.rms], along with the cash and dogs.
For anyone who loves dogs, the hardest part is not just the numbers. It is imagining what those dogs had already been forced to endure before law enforcement got there. [Dogf.ight.ing] is not a [mi.stake] or a moment of bad judgment. It is organized [cr.ue.lty], built around [fe.ar], [in.jur.ies], gambling, and the willingness to treat living animals like entertainment.

Sheriff Havard described what his team found as one of the most disturbing [cr.imes] he had seen in 11 years of law enforcement. That matters, because officers who have seen [te.rri.ble] things do not use words like that lightly.

The investigation reportedly began in March and included drones and human spotters, showing how much work it can take to uncover operations that are hidden in remote areas. Authorities say the [ca.se] is still not over, and that the [su.spec.ted] organizers have not yet been taken into custody.

That detail should not be ignored.
The 45 [ar.re.sts] are important, but the people who build, profit from, and protect these rings must also be found.
Behind every seized dog is a life that was never meant to be used this way. Some may need medical care. Some may need time, patience, and rehabilitation. All of them deserved protection long before police had to step in.

This [ca.se] is a reminder that dogfighting is not just an animal issue.
It is a community issue.
When [cr.uel.ty] is hidden, silence protects it. When people report what they see, dogs get a chance to be found before it is too late.

Use the $70,000 for vet bills to check out every dog who was part of the dog fights and the rest to local shelters. ❤️❤️🐾🐾🐾
